Milestones was founded in the nation's capital in 1987 by historian and author Kathi Ann Brown. In 1997, the firm relocated to historic Charlottesville, Virginia, the Blue Ridge foothill town best known as the home of Thomas Jefferson's "little mountain" retreat, Monticello, and the University of Virginia.
